Volunteering

Friday Morning Group

Love spending time with horses? Being with them on the ground? The group aims to connect a small group of like minded people together in our community. Help with duties such as filing hay nets, water buckets, mucking out, sweeping yard, poo picking in field.  After the duties are done have your cuppa or refreshments you have brought and then have some free time with our healing herd of twelve.

Hours: 7-9am at Paintedhorse.

Please contact us if you are interested.

If transport is an issue? One of the group can possibly offer several people a lift from Glastonbury to our farm and back again.

Voluntary support team

If you wish to volunteer for enhancing your CV, for an award such as Duke of Edinburgh or just because you like spending time around horses, we are happy to have help. Depending on the time of year duties include such as refilling water buckets and hay nets, cleaning feed buckets, mucking out and poo picking. If you are comfortable with horses then moving of horses, grazing horses/walking in hand, grooming horses, giving some TLC and so on. We are also interested in hearing from people who may be able to offer administration assistance.

If you are interested in volunteering please contact us.

The farm is not on any bus route unfortunately so driving to us is essential.

Meet the current team

Charlotte

Charlotte is 17 and currently studying Biology, Chemistry and Geography Alevels at school. Charlotte is hoping to go on to study veterinary medicine.

We are happy to support Charlotte who is volunteering with Paintedhorse for a year whilst she works towards gaining her Duke of Edinburgh Gold. Charlotte supports us on Saturday afternoons and has helped with events.

Alyson

Alyson is retired, volunteers at Glastonbury town hall and is actively involved in community events and activities. Alyson attends the Friends of Paintedhorse group on Fridays and occasionally volunteers on other days. She loves all the herd but has a particular soft spot for Epona.

Jilly

Jilly has volunteered for animal rescue centres in the past and even met her husband whilst working there. Jilly attends the Friends of Paintedhorse group on Fridays and also volunteers with the horse work on Wed mornings. Collies Annie and Sky are big fans of Jilly if they help her with the hay nets and they get the dog biscuits hidden in her pockets during tea break. Perfect.

Pip

Pip is a full time mum and teacher. Pip’s 6 year old daughter also comes along to help us with the horse chores on Wed mornings. Pip’s daughter has been quite fascinated with the free range chickens and the song they sing make after laying eggs.
